Reference architecture Definition


Reference architecture identifies the major actors (elements such as list of functions and some indication of their interfaces (or APIs) and interactions), their activities and functions in specific technology, platform or disruptive innovation or for a particular domain. It provides detailed information on high-level architecture and is intended to facilitate the understanding of the requirements, uses, characteristics and standards of intended technology or platform.  In short, it provides best practices.
