How to do Ubuntu Networking Configuration in Virtual Machine created in VMware ESXi 5.1

The basics for any network based on Transport Control Protocol (TCP), Internet Protocol (IP), and Universal Datagram Protocol (UDP). It is easier to configure network in the installation process.

To verify the status of your network cards

sudo ifconfig

To verify status of particular NIC

sudo ifconfig eth0

sudo ifconfig eth1

To assign static or DHCP address, you need to modify 

sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces
