If you encounter any error such as

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 131072 bytes) in /home/xxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxxxxx/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1242

It makes more sense to add the line: define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’);

to wp-config.php – wp-settings.php will be overwritten when you upgrade, but if the value is already defined in wp-config then it uses what is set there.

You can find wp-config.php in cpanel:

Open cPanel and Click on File Manager

2.Wordpress - cPanel
2.Wordpress – cPanel

Select Web Root

3.Wordpress - cPanel - Directory Selection
3.Wordpress – cPanel – Directory Selection

Select wp-config.php and click on Edit and add Line: define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’); at the end of File
